Oak Grove Ceiling Fixture
Greene & Greene Pratt House Adaptation — African Mahogany
The Oak Grove ceiling fixture is a faithful reproduction of the original Greene & Greene lighting from the Charles M. Pratt House in Ojai, California, completed in 1908. Charles and Henry Greene were remarkable for the completeness of their design vision — every element of their homes was considered holistically, from the architectural structure to the lighting, furnishings, trim, and even the rugs. The Oak Grove represents the quility and attention to detail that is so admired in these homes.
The original Pratt House featured a single size, but over years of creating this piece in clients' homes, hallways, entries, and stairwells called for something more precisely scaled. Three standard sizes have emerged from that experience — each a faithful reproduction of the original proportions and detailing, simply scaled to suit the room. The frame is handcrafted from hand-selected African mahogany with genuine Gaboon ebony inlays.
The stained glass panels are handmade using the copper foil method, featuring an abstract vine pattern set against an iridescent amber background with iridescent green accents suggesting the natural movement of leaves and tendrils. The iridescent glass shifts subtly as the light changes throughout the day, bringing a quiet organic warmth to and space where Greene & Greene's philosophy of beauty through honest craft is valued.
