San Mateo Ceiling Fixture

Greene & Greene Inspired — Jennie A. Reeve House, 1904

The San Mateo is an original Craftsmen Studio design adapted from the lighting of the Jennie A. Reeve House in Long Beach, California, completed in 1904 — one of Charles and Henry Greene's earliest and most significant residential commissions, and a pivotal work in their development toward the mature Arts and Crafts style they would perfect in the Gamble and Pratt Houses just a few years later.

The fixture is handcrafted from hand-selected African mahogany with genuine Gaboon ebony accent details, assembled using traditional mortise and tenon joinery in faithful keeping with Greene & Greene's approach to honest, structural craftsmanship.

The iridescent amber glass panels are handmade using the copper foil method, casting a warm, honeyed light that brings the organic richness of early Arts and Crafts design into any room. Equally at home in an entry hall, dining room, or study, this fixture suits any space where Greene & Greene's philosophy of beauty through honest craft is valued.

Made entirely to order. Available in three sizes. Custom glass colors available upon request.
