Santa Rosa Sconce

Greene & Greene Inspired Wall Sconce — Blacker House

The Santa Rosa wall sconce is inspired by the original lighting designed by Charles and Henry Greene for the 1907 Blacker House library in Pasadena — one of their most celebrated commissions and a defining example of the Greene & Greene aesthetic at its most refined. The form is a square lantern: four vertical amber glass panels set in a mahogany frame, topped by a projecting roof that gives the fixture a strong horizontal cap and anchors it visually to the wall. The upper portion of each glass panel features a stylized lead motif that adds ornamental detail in keeping with the organic naturalism central to Greene & Greene's design philosophy.

The wall bracket is built from African mahogany with square Gaboon ebony peg details at the joinery — the hallmark of Greene & Greene's insistence on visible, honest construction. The amber glass panels glow warmly when lit, casting a soft, diffused light well suited to a hallway, dining room, staircase, or flanking an entryway. Available in two sizes to suit most any space. Single socket rated for up to 75 watts.
