Riverview Table Lamp

Prairie School Arts and Crafts Lamp — Quarter-Sawn White Oak

The Riverview shares its tapered base and low-pitch quarter-sawn white oak shade with our Riverside lamp, but sets itself apart with a design detail drawn directly from the Prairie School lamps of the Peterson Furniture Company — one of the lesser-known but genuinely influential makers of the American Arts and Crafts era. The lower apron of the shade features seven evenly spaced round openings in the classic Peterson viewport style, with five smaller round ventilation holes across the upper portion of the shade. It is a subtle but unmistakable detail that gives the lamp a distinctive silhouette.

The tapered base is made from hand-selected quarter-sawn white oak, chosen for the characteristic medullary ray figure that gives properly quartered oak its natural depth and richness. The lamp is available in two glass options: warm amber mica, which casts the honeyed, softly diffused glow most associated with Prairie and Craftsman interiors; or a hand-made poppy flower stained glass design in copper foil, for those wanting a more decorative and colorful light.
